Overwatch 2 Cancels Long Awaited PvE Hero Mode

Overwatch was a massive success the first few years during its launch. But after what seemed like a massive money grab when they transitioned to Overwatch 2, things only kept going downhill.

PvE Mode Cancelled

During a recent stream, Executive Producer Jared Neuss shared some heartbreaking news. “We can’t deliver on that original vision for PvE that was shown in 2019”, Neuss continued by saying, “So what that means is that we won’t be delivering that dedicated hero mode with talent trees, that long-term progression. Those things just aren’t in our plans anymore.

This was a massive hit to the Overwatch 2 fanbase that was already disappointed with many decisions the studio decided to make such as cutting out loot boxes to incorporate a battle pass system, in an effort to grab more money from their audience. “We know that this is going to be disappointing for many people. To be perfectly honest, it’s been really difficult for many of us…a lot of folks on the team have poured their heart and soul into that stuff.”, Neuss stated.

This is heartbreaking and shocking news for many fans across the world who were promised a vision that years later, did not deliver. It seems that besides changing the game mode to 5v5 and incorporating some hero changes, Overwatch 2 is just a rip-off in attempts to gain more money through their fan base purchasing loot boxes.
