Black Ops has the most zombies maps out of any Call Of Duty game in the franchise. Let’s take a look at all the maps and rank them from our least to most favorite.
14. Revelations
Revelations was included in the 4th DLC of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3. It incorporated a mix of zombie maps from the previous games of the franchise. You spawn in a new area that has 4 portals, leading to various areas on the map. One second you’re walking in Kino Der Toten, the next second you’re somehow in Verrückt. This makes for a very neat concept.
This map is vibrant, and feels like a combination of everything for a finale to the Zombie DLC packs, but it lacks creativity. Although this map has the most variation, it can feel very overwhelming and lacks a certain vibe that you can usually expect to experience in a zombies map.
Fans were originally expecting several remastered maps (later provided in DLC 5). So, when fans found out the DLC 4 zombies map was a mashup rather than a bunch of individual remastered maps, they were left rather disappointed.
For these reasons, Revelations makes it to the bottom of the list at #14.
13. Verrückt
The rest of these maps going forward are all amazing maps in our opinion, but we still have to rank them on best to least best.
Verrückt is a fan favorite taking place in a mental asylum. The creepiness of the map is still there, with vibrant new textures.
This is a solid map for someone looking to hop in and enjoy a simple, entertaining zombies experience filled with many corners and close encounters with the undead.
12. Nacht Der Untoten
The first zombies map ever made, remastered for the third time. As usual, it never disappoints. The feel of this map is very unique, as you genuinely feel alone in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the undead.
Black Ops 3 did a great job including the gobblegum machine and wonderfizz in these original World At War zombies maps, because now the player has a chance to arm themselves with some perks before facing the undead.
If you are looking for a very classic zombie experience that will keep you on your toes, this is your map!
11. Shi No Numa
Excluding “The Giant”, the best World At War remaster for a zombies map has to go to Shi-no Numa.
What was originally a very grey and dark green map has turned into a very beautiful map, really making you feel like you’re in a swamp in Japan.
With this remaster, the map comes more Alice than ever. If you’re looking for a very intricate yet simple map that never disappoints, Shi-no Numa is a great bet.
10. Gorod Krovi
This map had fans excited from the trailer. Bringing the Ray Gun Mark 3 and the PPSh that fans had long been waiting for was a dream come true.
This map offered a whole new environment and map layout that was unlike any of its predecessors. Fans also loved this map for being able to ride a dragon to the Pack-a-Punch area, which was in a defendable tower.
Overall, this was a great map as many new features were included, as well as providing a fresh gameplay experience.
9. Shangri-La
Many refer Shangri-La as the most beautiful remaster of DLC 5. Every texture and color has been amplified to it’s best variation, and it really makes for a beautiful experience.
Shangri-La is one of the harder maps, so you can always expect a very intense play through, filled with many unexpected moments.
If you’re looking for a fast paced, less forgiving map, this is your go-to.
8. Zetsubou No Shima
Zetsubou is a controversial map in the eyes of many. Some see it as a complicated and unnecessarily difficult map, while other characters view it as a beautiful challenge.
When I think of Zetsubou No Shima, I think of having fun. This is one of the most fun maps for me to play because of the variety of things to do and the pace it makes you stay at.
The map is beautiful and intricate, many new weapons and special weapons are added, as well as a brand new planting/harvesting mechanic that always has you busy on your feet with a task.
And did I mention the thrasher? This monster can not only kill you, but it can eat you and keep you waiting in it’s stomach while you wait for your teammate to kill the abomination.
Playing Zetsubou No Shima is always an entertaining time, and I would rate it higher if it wasn’t such a controversial map in the eyes of some.
7. Ascension
A fan favorite from Black Ops 1, Ascension is a beautifully crafted, perfect zombies experience.
This map originally gained large attention because of the new perk addition, PhD Flopper, but unfortunately the Black Ops 3 mechanics do not allow for such a perk.
Nonetheless, the excitement and satisfaction of the map remains. It includes large open training areas, great wonder weapons, a new monkey round, and so much more.
If you’re looking for a good time with your friends, playing Ascension is sure to never disappoint.
6. Moon
A map that became more popular after the remaster is Moon. The very dull and grey map from before has become one of the most beautiful maps.
One of the best additions is in the Biodome area. The visuals and sounds genuinely makes you feel like you are where you are, in a controlled bio dome in the middle of space.
Moon on Black Ops 3 took an innovative map, and tweaked it to make it the most entertaining version of it possible.
If you’re looking for an adventure, look nowhere else than Moon.
5. Kino Der Toten
Potentially the most popular zombies map of all time makes a return. This remaster is one of the most beautiful as many features were completely retextured.
I may be biased because this was my first map ever, but this is the best zombies experience to have with your friends. Exploring this map and eventually finding the stage, opening the stage, and constantly running into your friends makes for a super fun and “on-your-toes” experience.
This map is sure to always be a good time, and with these new graphics, it is amazing to look at.
4. The Giant
Looking for a map that is fun, simple, and beautiful to look at? Look no further than The Giant.
The original and the Black Ops 1 remaster are very different from the Black Ops 3 remaster. It includes a new special weapon, new side Easter eggs, and the addition of snow. The original and first remaster were named “Der Reise”, while this third remaster is named “The Giant”.
If you want something quick to hop into that it a super fun experience, look no further, The Giant has your back.
3. Origins
Quite possibly the best rated map of Black Ops 2, Origins makes an astounding appearance. This is another example of a map that already looked good but came to look even more vibrant and beautiful after.
On the Black Ops 3 engine, this already perfect map runs even better. The map still remains one of the best zombies experiences to date, and although it can be tedious to learn: it may be the most rewarding zombies experience to date.
2. Shadows Of Evil
The first zombies of Black Ops 3 started off with a bang.
The retro feel to Shadows Of Evil, in combination with the new wonder weapons and new perks makes for an excellent experience as you run around Morgue City.
This map has a feel to it that no other zombies map has, and it is also incredibly versatile.
If you are looking for a totally new experience that you can never get enough of: look no further than Shadows of Evil.
1. Der Eisendrache
In many ways, Der Eisendrache is similar to Origins.
The recurring boss is the Panzer, and instead of 4 staffs, there are 4 bows. Origins had staffs of fire, ice, air, and lightning. Der Eisendrache has bows of lightning, wolf, fire, and void.
This map is one of the best designs Treyarch studios has given to date, and the snowy ambience makes for an incredible zombies experience.
The easter egg on this map is not only incredibly fun to complete, but all of the required steps make sense.
The best zombies map in Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 has to go to Der Eisendrache.
