Often in life we find ourselves thinking that once we have a certain thing whether it be a new job, a relationship, a new car, etc. that our lives will feel complete. This is always a lie.
It’s Never Going To Be Over
Recently I read David Deida’s ‘The Way Of The Superior Man’, and the first chapter: ‘Stop Hoping For a Completion of Anything In Life’ spoke volumes to me.
“It’s never going to be over, so stop waiting for the good stuff”, he says. This may sound depressing at first glance, but I promise it is way more than that.
One Day Everything Will Be Different
I remember when I was in high school, I thought that if I got accepted into my dream college that my life would be complete. And then I got to college, and instantly I started to think that once I joined a fraternity that my life would feel complete. Once I was initiated, I remember then thinking that once I find a beautiful girlfriend that my life would feel complete.
Next thing you know, I had all of these things. But, I still didn’t feel complete.
Often times in life, we believe that one day everything will be different. We think that once our finances are in order and certain obligations are met that we can finally do the things that we love. This is not true, we can still do the things we love now. Because if not now, then when?
